Have you ever wondered why so many people make videos on YouTube? How about the fact that many are actually cashing out by simply posting videos to this video sharing site? Do you want to make money from your videos?
Great! This article will show you exactly how to make money with YouTube videos, and how you can start today.
Okay so before I get started, let me be honest with you. Making money from YouTube videos isn’t easy. It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, either. However, with the right information and motivation, you too can make a monthly check by simply creating videos online.
So if you are still reading this article, then you definitely have the motivation. So let’s get started!
First, let’s go over the basics. You will need to have a YouTube account (which is free) – Click Here To Create An Account! Once your account is created, you are ready to upload your first video!
Now, the misconception that many have with YouTube is the fact that not everyone makes money. Let me repeat that – Not everyone makes money on YouTube! Only a select number of people can make money.
So what’s the deal? How can you be in this “select few”?
Well, this is where motivation and quality come to play. You need to have quality videos. You need videos that people will enjoy watching. You need subscribers, lots of views, a following.
Once you have a following on YouTube, you can then apply to become a YouTube partner. Yes, you got it, YouTube Partners are the ones who make money.
Here it is in a nutshell:
You create videos. People like your videos. You get tons of subscribers and views. You apply for partnership. YouTube accepts you.
Is it always this easy? Of course not! Hundreds of people get denied partnership every single day. So how can you be one of the “select few” that get accepted?
Well, this discussion can go on for hours, because no one really knows exactly how many subscribers or views you need to become a partner. However, a good number to go by is “1,000 subscribers and 100,000 video views”. This is just an estimate, though. There are people that have become partner with only 200 subscribers, and people how have been denied partnership with thousands of subscribers. The thing YouTube looks at most is how involved you are with the community as well as your following.
So now onto actually making the money. You are now a partner, how do you make the money? To a lot of people, it is complicated. Here I will make it easy on you and use the simplest terms possible:
When you become partner, you will then have the option to display advertisements on your videos. These can be pop-up ads that show up at the bottom of your videos, picture ads that are square/box shaped and show up on the side of your videos, and/or pre-roll ads, which are video ads that play before your video starts (usually 10-30 seconds long).
To display these ads, you will need to create a Google Adsense account. Click Here To Create An Account! Google Adsense is what YouTube uses to make money. When someone clicks on the advertisement, Google, YouTube, as well as yourself will make some money from the ads (ad revenue). You make different amounts of money for each click, but it is usually somewhere around 5 cents all the way up to 50 cents (could be more or less).
This is another misconception, many think you can just quit your job and make YouTube videos for a living. This is true for only a VERY SMALL percentage of YouTube Partners.
Think about it, you get 10,000 views on a video, and 5% of people click on an ad (usually this is much less). That is 500 clicks. If you made 10 cents on each click, that’s $50 for 1 video that got 10,000 views. So unless you are getting hundreds of thousands of views per video, and are posting videos multiple times per week, you will only be doing this part time.
So how do you get paid?
Well, Google Adsense will keep track of the money you are making, and once you hit the money threshold for the month ($100), Google sends a check in the mail to your address (which you will have to provide before they send you your check). If you don’t hit the $100 threshold, your money stays in the account until it accumulates to that amount.
It really isn’t that complicated, the only part you have to worry about is making quality videos and becoming partner! You also must be 18 years or older to receive checks from Google, and to sign up with Google Adsense (if you’re not 18, but have become a partner, you can always allow a parent or legal guardian to receive the checks).
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and create a video! Make a YouTube channel, create a following, and most of all, get involved in the community. Talk with other YouTubers, make some friends, do a collaboration video with other video makers. Everything helps!
